eradiate.radprops.rayleigh.depolarization_bodhaine(wavelength=<Quantity(550.0, 'nanometer')>, x_CO2=<Quantity(0.0004, 'dimensionless')>)[source]#

Compute depolarization using Bodhaine’s King factor [Bodhaine et al., 1999]. Parametrized over wavelength and CO2 concentration, other components are assumed to be at a fixed proportion. Valid at 273.15 K, 1013.25 mb, for dry air.

Parameters:
  • wavelength (quantity) – Wavelength.

  • x_CO2 (quantity) – Array of CO2 mole fraction in the atmosphere.

Returns:

quantity (array of shape (N,)) – Array of depolarization factor for each level [dimensionless]
